Hypnoville’s Rules

These rules are effective from 00:01 GMT, Monday 28th February 2022.

Adults Only

This is an adult game with significant adult content. In order to play this game, you must be at least 18 years of age, and it must be legal in your current jurisdiction for you to experience adult content and engage in adult roleplay.

Similarly, all characters in the game must be ‘of age’, regardless of whether you intend them to engage in adult roleplay or not. That is, it must be legal and appropriate for them to engage in sexual activities. That includes entities whose actions you describe, even if there is no associated character. In particular, no babies.

Multiple Characters

Having more than one character is permitted, however, you must not have your characters aid one another in any way.

Don’t abuse the referral system, whether for your own gain or someone else’s. We reserve the right to delete any or all associated characters when we find out.

Using another character to evade sanctions placed against one of your characters may result in further sanctions against all of your characters, up to and including deletion.

Internet Language

Public areas are intended for roleplaying. To this end, we ask that you:

Please refrain from using internetisms such as ‘LOL’, smileys, or out-of-context (OOC) remarks in general, including comments directly referring to game mechanics.
Please refrain from using textspeak abbreviations like ‘ur’, ‘u’, etc. You don’t speak like that, so you shouldn’t write like that.

Be Nice

Everyone has a right to use Hypnoville free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence.

No racism, homophobia, sexism, or other hate speech.

Hate speech or content that demeans, defames, or promotes discrimination or violence on the basis of race, color, caste, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or veteran status, immigration status, socio-economic status, weight or pregnancy status is prohibited.
It is prohibited to use expressions that may upset the feelings of victims of historical events/crimes or use historical events/crimes to offend others.

No Doxxing

Respect the privacy of others. Instigating harassment, for example by revealing someone’s personal or confidential information, is not allowed. Never post or threaten to post intimate or sexually-explicit media of someone without their consent.

Don’t Glorify Self-Harm

Maintain our supportive environment by not glorifying self-injury. Encouraging or urging people to embrace self-injury is counter to this environment of support, and we’ll remove it or disable accounts if it’s reported to us. We may also remove content identifying victims or survivors of self-injury if the content targets them for attack or humor.

No harassing behavior

If you are asked to not interact with another player, whether in general or in specific ways, you should respect that.
Don’t create ‘shitlists’ ‘ignore lists’ etc. in your bio. Use the in-game Ignore function, and if a user continues to harass you, please report it to the Admins by submitting a Petition for help.
Do not tell other users that they cannot role-play in public spaces, if someone is breaking these rules, please report it to the Admins by submitting a Petition for help.
No member of Hypnoville, with the exception of Staff, has the authority to ban another member from accessing public areas of the service. If there is a personal disagreement between players, it is the responsibility of those players to avoid each other in these public areas.

NSFW Content

By accessing the Hypnoville you accept that you are likely to see NSFW Content, including Kink content.
More extreme NSFW Discussion or Play, (including, but not limited to, CNC, Abuse, Snuff, Watersports, Scat, etc.) should be taken to Private Messages
Our acceptance of NSFW content is still limited by the Adults Only rule above, and posting or sharing NSFW content involving underage characters is strictly prohibited.

Misinformation

Hypnoville is not a place for misinformation, disinformation, mal-information, or the individuals or groups spreading or creating it. We remove or limit the distribution of false or misleading content that may lead to harm of our users’ or the public’s well-being, safety, or trust, including:

Medically unsupported health claims that risk public health and safety, including the promotion of false cures, anti-vaccination advice, or misinformation about public health or safety emergencies
False or misleading content about individuals or protected groups that promotes fear, hate, or prejudice
False or misleading content that encourages turning individuals, groups of people, places, or organizations into targets of harassment or physical violence
Conspiracy theories
Content that originates from disinformation campaigns
Factual information that’s published or deliberately modified to erode trust or inflict harm, such as changing or omitting context, date, or time
Fabricated or meaningfully manipulated visual or audio content that erodes trust or causes harm

Civic participation misinformation:

False or misleading content that impedes an election’s integrity or an individual’s or group’s civic participation, including registering to vote, voting, and being counted in a census
False or misleading information about the dates, times, locations, and procedure for voting or participating in a census
Content that misleads voters about how to correctly fill in and submit a ballot, including a postal vote or census form
False or misleading information about who can vote or participate in a census and what information must be provided in order to participate
False or misleading statements about who is collecting information and/or how it will be used
False or misleading information about public safety that is intended to deter people from exercising their right to vote or participate in a census
Content that encourages or instructs voters or participants to misrepresent themselves or participate illegally
Content apparently intended to delegitimize election results on the basis of false or misleading claims
Threats against voting locations, census or voting personnel, or voters or census participants, including intimidation of vulnerable or protected groups of voters or participants

Don’t Break the Site

Don’t break the site or do anything that interferes with the normal use of the site. Do not interrupt the serving of Hypnoville, introduce malicious code onto Hypnoville, make it difficult for anyone else to use Hypnoville due to your actions, create programs that violate any of our other API rules, or assist anyone in misusing Hypnoville in any way.
Do not Misuse Bugs. “Misuse of bugs” refers to the deliberate exploitation of a fault/error in Hypnoville or manipulating a feature of Hypnoville so that it does not function as intended, in order to obtain personal gain or cause disadvantage to someone else.
Sending/Linking any harmful material such as viruses, IP grabbers, or harmware results in an immediate and permanent ban.
You can’t use the site if it would be prohibited by International sanctions. Accounts are currently not available in Crimea, Cuba, Russia, Iran, North Korea, or Syria.

Admin Discretion

Admins reserve the right to use their own discretion, regardless of any rule or lack thereof. If an Admin gives an instruction in their duties as an Admin, failure to follow the instruction is a violation and a penalty will be issued. If you are given an instruction by an Admin, please follow this immediately.

Hypnoville reserves the right to remove users whom we have reason to believe, in our sole discretion, pose a clear and present danger to others, on or off of Hypnoville.

We may work with emergency services, including law enforcement, including when we believe that there’s the risk of physical harm or threat to public safety.

The Staff reserves the right to determine if an action is in violation of the spirit or intent of the rules and to act accordingly.
